Le château de Birot
45 min south of Bordeaux
Located in the heart of the Côtes de Bordeaux region, Château de Birot opens the doors of its 17th-century estate. In the heart of the vineyards, the château and its gîte can accommodate up to 20 people.
Château de Birot was built in the late 17th century, then renovated and enlarged around 1780 by Monsieur de Parouty (lawyer at the Bordeaux Parliament and major Bordeaux winegrower). Only the cellar, the vat room and the well bearing the year it was built were preserved during the restoration. At the time, Birot was the center of an agricultural estate whose best hillside terroirs were devoted to vines, making it one of Bordeaux’s oldest winegrowing operations.
Situated on the clay-limestone slopes and gravelly hilltops overlooking the Garonne, this property offers unrivalled panoramic views of the region, with Château Yquem as a backdrop.
